Packeta launches parcel drop-off at Z-BOXes for e-shops. What does it mean for merchants?

From 1 July 2026 e-shops can drop parcels off directly at selected Z-BOXes. We took a look at how it works and who benefits most from the new option.

Packeta is introducing a change that can make sending parcels easier, especially for small and medium-sized e-shops. From 1 July 2026 online stores can hand their parcels over directly at selected Z-BOXes. For e-shops that means more flexibility, less waiting and the option to send parcels outside the opening hours of drop-off points.

Until now, most customers knew Z-BOXes mainly as a place to conveniently collect a parcel. From now on they can also serve as a practical drop-off point for e-shops that need to send a smaller number of parcels quickly, easily and without visiting a depot or a branch.

How does dropping a parcel off at a Z-BOX work?

The process is simple and follows on from the usual way of creating a shipment in the Packeta system.

The e-shop first creates the shipment in the standard way, prints the label and sticks it on the parcel. Along with the label it also receives a 9-digit drop-off code, which has to be entered on the Z-BOX keypad. After confirming the code, the sender chooses the size of the compartment and puts the parcel inside.

Packeta distinguishes compartment sizes S, M and L, and only one parcel can be placed in each compartment. Once the parcel has been handed over, the e-shop receives an e-mail confirmation.

Who will find this most interesting?

Dropping parcels off at a Z-BOX can be practical especially for e-shops that send a small number of parcels a day or need to hand parcels over outside normal opening hours.

Typically that means:

  • smaller e-shops without their own warehouse,
  • sellers who are just starting out,
  • sellers with irregular order volumes,
  • business owners who pack orders in the evening or at the weekend,
  • e-shops that want more options for where and when to hand a parcel over.

The biggest benefit is flexibility. Merchants no longer have to worry about making it to a drop-off point before closing time, or whether it is worth driving to the depot with just a few parcels. If there is a suitable Z-BOX nearby, they can hand the parcel over whenever it suits them.

What to watch out for when dropping off at a Z-BOX

Even though this is a very practical service, e-shops should keep a few rules in mind.

It is important to mark the parcel correctly, stick the label on properly and use the right drop-off code. The parcel has to fit the available compartments and only one parcel belongs in each compartment. You also need to bear in mind that this method is mainly suited to smaller volumes.

If an e-shop sends a larger number of parcels at once, a depot, a courier pick-up or a classic drop-off point may still be the better choice.

Why is this good news for e-commerce?

In e-commerce today it is not only the price of shipping that decides, but also the simplicity and speed of the whole logistics process. Every option that saves a merchant time when sending orders can in practice mean a more efficient e-shop.

Dropping parcels off at Z-BOXes can help above all in situations where an e-shop needs to react flexibly to orders, does not want to wait for the next working day or has no capacity to deal with logistics during regular working hours.

From the outside nothing much changes for the customer — they still receive their parcel through Packeta. From the e-shop's point of view, though, there is one more way to get a parcel into the transport network more easily.
